Describe your work in one sentence:
Design, create, connect: mindful making workshops to inspire creativity and community.
Why do you do it?
Claire: After many years juggling life and family commitments, I decided to do something creative just for me, so I started an MA Textiles course at MMU. 2 years on, and I have found what I love and am really good at too, it's never too late to learn something new.
Hannah: Life is too short not to do what you love and are passionate about. Making and creating is something I can't go a day without practicing so I want to share that with others and hope they experience a similar joy and mindfulness.
What keeps you going (what’s your GRIT)?
Claire: When life gets busy and stressful, I love to lose myself in weaving and making. To let my mind wander and just to be focused on the materials, colours and patterns I'm using helps me to pause and reset....it's important for me to share the wellbeing benefits of mindful making with others through our workshops.
Hannah: The act of making is so beneficial for us in the fast pace world we live in and making as a group is a lovely way to build a community and learn from each other. Embroidery specifically has been my therapy.
What advice would you give to somebody wanting to become a ‘creative’?
Claire: Be confident in your own abilities and your creativity will flow.
Hannah: Take the leap and start!
Tell us something unusual about yourself.
Claire: When I was at college I was a mascot for our football team.
Hannah: I spent a month in the hiking through the Amazon rainforest
