Category of work:

Live Illustration / Graphic design / Murals and Painting

Describe your work in one sentence:

I turn complicated corporate lingo into easy-to-digest bite size illustration chunks.

Why do you do it?

I got into live illustration about 8 years ago now and it's gotten really popular. Lots of my clients want a visual to take away and summarise their meeting or event. So I guess I do it because I think there needs to be less boring reports written and more pictures in the world!

What keeps you going (what’s your GRIT)?

Aside from coffee to keep me going, I am always so happy to be doing anything drawing / painting related in any capacity and every week is different. The main thing that keeps it interesting is not knowing who the next client is or what the next scribbling adventure will bring! I am always happiest with a big blank wall to fill.

What advice would you give to somebody wanting to become a ‘creative’?

Just start doing. I love that quote:  'The most effective way to do it is to do it'

And... keep going... send 100s of emails, make phone calls, talk to strangers, ask lots of questions and be nice to people. Work will always come in if you're easy to work with and have ideas.

Tell us something unusual about yourself.

I've been on a few TV quiz shows, and so far won no money! Must revise next time!
