Visual Music & Creative Technology

Describe your work in one sentence:

I’m a visual musician who uses technology to create live audiovisual performances, short audiovisual films, and interactive sonic art installations that explore the relationship between the aural and visual.

Why do you do it?

My brain’s just wired that way – making music and creating visuals have been a lifelong passion – though post my PhD I’m also keen to make a personal contribution to the field – to share my particular thinking and insights with the Visual Music community.

What keeps you going (what’s your GRIT)?

It’s a healthy compulsion – my means of self-expression and self-actualisation – though I reckon it’s also about satisfying my curiosity.

What advice would you give to somebody wanting to become a ‘creative’?

Explore the lineage and seek inspiration within the artistic context of your practice – while also asking your own questions and pursuing personal interests.

Tell us something unusual about yourself.

I used to work for the BBC managing the technical side of live Web streaming for Top Of The Pops.
